A life shaped by movement and imagination

Growing up, Jordyn Pollack was surrounded by family, spending most of his time with cousins and staying close to them even today. Childhood was active and full of movement, playing sports and constantly being on the go. But underneath that energy, there were also early moments of internal conflict.

As puberty began, Jordyn started to feel the quiet disconnect of not fully fitting into how other girls were expected to show up in the world. Those early emotional ups and downs would later become part of what shaped both his identity and his creative voice.

Turning feeling into film

For Jordyn, storytelling has never just been about documentation, it’s about translation. Through cinematography, he has found a way to express what words often can’t fully capture. “I am able to express myself in ways where people can put themselves in my shoes,” he explains. “With the right visuals and sounds it can really make a difference to the viewer.

I want someone watching to feel something, not just see it.” That emotional intention sits at the core of everything he creates, turning film into something that feels immersive rather than observational.

Seeing himself through the world

Travel has also played a defining role in shaping how Jordyn sees both himself and the world. Inspired early on by watching their grandparents travel, that curiosity eventually became a lived experience of meeting new people, connecting with different cultures, and expanding his understanding of identity and community.

“The beauty in people’s differences is what really is magical to me,” they share. That perspective continues to influence the kinds of stories he chooses to tell, often founded in humanity, connection, and emotional truth.

Choosing work that aligns

As a trans man working in creative industries, Jordyn is also intentional about what they align themselves with. Choosing projects and brand collaborations is not just a professional decision, but a personal one. “I choose to work with brands and companies that I believe in,” they say. “It has to actually align with me.”

While he acknowledges the barriers that still exist, especially when it comes to visibility and acceptance of trans voices, he also see every collaboration that does happen as a step forward.

Living your truth unapologetically

At the center of Jordyn’s perspective is a simple definition of authenticity: “Living your truth unapologetically.” That clarity also extends into how they view identity, especially as a trans man navigating both public perception and personal truth.

For Jordyn, there’s a desire for more understanding that being trans is not a choice, but an inherent part of who he is, and that the goals, aspirations, and emotional experiences of trans people are no different from anyone else.

Learning patience and self-trust

Their journey has also been shaped by resilience and self-trust, learned through moments of doubt and growth. Over time, Jordyn has had to learn patience, recognizing that change doesn’t happen overnight. “Things don’t change or happen overnight. They take time, just like a plant does to grow,” he reflects. "That mindset has also come with a deeper sense of self-compassion, learning to extend grace inward as much as outward."

Protecting the person behind the work

Mental health remains an important part of that balance. As someone who feels a responsibility to amplify queer voices through his work, Jordyn is intentional about not overextending beyond his capacity. He shared that taking time to step back, reset, and focus on personal wellbeing allows his to return with more clarity and intention.

In many ways, his creativity and advocacy are connected, with each reinforcing the other rather than competing for space.

The power of trans visibility

When it comes to sharing his story, Jordyn is deeply aware of the impact visibility can have. Seeing other trans men online was life-changing, offering a sense of recognition and possibility that didn’t previously exist. Now, he hopes his own journey can offer that same sense of reassurance to someone else. “I hope seeing my journey helps them live theirs,” he says.

“Their gender doesn’t have anything to do with what they can achieve in life.”

Transforming pain into purpose

Much of his work today is focused in transforming past pain into creative expression. Growing up without visible trans representation left them feeling isolated, even struggling with mental health in their early years. But over time, finding community and language around identity became life-saving. “Realizing I wasn’t alone saved my life,” he shares.

Now, through cinematography and storytelling, Jordyn channels those experiences into work that invites others to feel seen, understood, and less alone.

Becoming who you already are

At the heart of everything is a belief he carries forward for anyone navigating self-discovery: “If you were the only person in the world, who would you want to see in the mirror? That version of you, is already who you are meant to be." and through his lens, Jordyn Pollack is helping others see that more clearly too.
